Eversource or maybe it's Verizon just installed a new pole across the street from 134 Jackson St., Cambridge. As usual the old pole remains, attached to the new pole, because of all the attachments on top. But the old pole was cutoff to short. It overhangs the curb a couple of inches, just enough to hit cars parking close to the curb. Could a few more feet are cut off so the cars and vans don't risk hitting the pole?

I would have thought it's the responsibility of Verizon or Eversource to cut the pole higher or otherwise fix this street hazard. Or is it up to the Electrical Department to tell Verizon or Eversource to fix the problem? If a car is damaged, who is responsible?

These are Verizon poles. Please reach out to NYS-NE Engineering Hotline at 866-686-1195 provide them with your name contact phone number and address and issue requiring ENG Assistance. Citizens have been very successful with them.
Thank you for reporting this issue to the City of Cambridge. Unfortunately, the City is not responsible for addressing issues with utility poles.
