When we arrived at GCT, Metro North employees were on the train looking at the damage. I heard someone say the train doors had been left open over night. Is it usual protocol to leave train doors open while in the yard? Besides the rain, trains are completely vulnerable to vandalism, animals, squatters, etc.

While there is no excuse for someone stupidly leaving train doors open in the rain, this is not a systemic problem, nor is vandalism vagrants etc. New haven yard is thoroughly covered with video surveillance cameras, and with all the toxic waste that permeates the ground, animals dont survive long.
