Description
7 days a week all day there are massive USPS, UPS and Fedex trucks up to 25 feet long, which usually come in pairs, always blocking this roadway just before the crosswalk, with only one cars length between the trucks and the crosswalk, with or usually Without their hazard lights on.
You are forced to cross the double yellow lines driving towards Shattuck on Center St. to pass these massive trucks as only 1-2 feet of street clearance, if that, is left for vehicles to go around these trucks. There are thousands of students and average citizens walking at the crosswalk, and dozens of them if not 30 at peak times will walk across the cross walk when they have no right of way (Walking stop sign says STOP). What happens is that vehicles can and will run into these padestrians if something isn't done about these trucks.
There is a nice strip of concave road that is available only to Taxi's, which there are usually 5-9 Taxi's constantly waiting at that cutout, which I'm sure that a fraction of that area could be given to these constantly loading trucks, or the trucks could be instructed to park elsewhere by placing signs stating so right there. There is also an area where I believe further road could be created, but there are Ford Bikes housed just outside of the Taxi waiting area more towards Shattuck.
You think this is a problem now, there is construction going on that stops most traffic from entering the opposite direction going onto Center St. from Shattuck. When the crew is done with the road construction, which I figure will be less than a month from now, it will be 20 times more dangerous to drive past these trucks.
Please do something about the Trucks. Get them out of there or give them more space.
Thank you.
